Woodstock Catering

The city has an interesting history and during the early 20th century, it was known as the “Typewriter City.” Not only was Woodstock home to the Oliver Typewriter Company, but also the Emerson Typewriter Company. By 1922, Woodstock had built more than half the typewriters in the world.

A few notable celebrities and professional athletes who were either born in or who have lived in Woodstock include Jessica Biel, an actress & model, Bryan Bulaga, a professional NFL football player & Orson Welles, a well-known director, writer, actor & producer.

The city was named by the National Trust for Historic Conservation as one of the United States’ Dozen Distinctive Destinations on 2007. The White House also named the city a Preserve America Community. Apart from that, the city is famous for being home to the Woodstock Opera House. Visitors and meeting attendees also take in the Old McHenry County Courthouse, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Square is an area in downtown Woodstock home to many different events throughout the year and consists of several historic buildings, including the Old McHenry County Courthouse mentioned above and the Woodstock Opera House. There are also many privately owned small businesses, restaurants & shops to see.

A well-known event held in Woodstock throughout the year is the Fair Diddley Art Fair, a large craft that has been around since 1969 featuring over 350 artists, food concessions & bake sales. Woodstock is also a popular area in the region for local, national & international music artists. A few organizations & events originating from Woodstock include Liquid Blues, Jazz on the Square, Off Square Music, Opera Woodstock, RIFF Productions Woodstock Folk Festival, Woodstock City Band, Woodstock Mozart Festival. The Opera House is also popular for hosting plays, concerts and live performances by artists throughout the year.

For family fun, you can visit Donley’s Wild West Town, a family amusement park located in nearby Union, IL. The park has shows, rides and cowboy-style fun activities for young kids. Also in Union, you will find the The Illinois Railway Museum, the largest railroad museum in the United States.
